I also have never been turned down for a bottle refill at Starbucks - they really are the unofficial hydration grid as your article states. However, some people don't feel comfortable asking for a bottle refill for free - TapItWater.com makes the hydration grid official - so you no longer have to worry about sidelong glances and the odd sigh : ) I have approached Starbucks about signing on with TapItWater.com by letter, but they have not replied to me. I assume they have many other things on their mind right now. In addition, they may see owning ethos water as a conflict. I would love to have them on board - here's hoping. Are you asking for water with your reusable bottle? Each Starbucks has a filtered water fountain with which they use to make coffee, drinks, etc. I don't believe this is a formal, publicized policy....but it works.
