Welcome to the Sustainable Hydration Lab

We’re more than a little obsessed with hydration, so you may be wondering what folks do when they get thirsty here at KOR HQ. We try to practice what we preach, so, naturally, that means we don’t have a fridge stocked with bottled water. Instead, we offer our employees and guests a variety of different sustainable hydration options. I like to think of this as our laboratory for studying the future of sustainable hydration. How will people live in a post-bottled water world? How will they take control of their own hydration? Spend a day with us here at KOR and find out!

The Sustainable Hydration Vessel

First, there’s the bottle. Of course, everyone has their own, usually several. For some of us, taking a bottle to work is kind of like deciding what outfit to wear in the morning. “Hmmm… am I in a KOR ONE mood or a Delta? Orchid Pink or Sunrise Orange?”

The Water

Then there’s the water. We offer two options. For the traditionalists, there’s our trusty Culligan dispenser. This is your basic, filtered-to-perfection clean, great-tasting water. Because it connects directly to our plumbing lines, there are no bottles to drop off or pick up, which make it a very sustainable solution. For those with a taste for the exotic, we offer also Kangen water. What’s that, you ask? Kangen is a special machine that treats our tap water with charged titanium plates to produce highly alkaline drinking water. The alkalinity of this water is said to neutralize the acid in the bloodstream, providing greater energy and healthfulness. Now, some people consider it snake oil, and I was certainly skeptical at first. But I was won over by the crisp refreshing taste, and after a full day of drinking Kangen, I swear I do have more energy.

The Water Enhancement Products

Last but not least, we always keep supply of water enhancement products on hand. These are the increasingly popular powders, tablets and concentrated liquids that people are using to create their own soft drinks and so-called “functional beverages.” Some, like Kraft’s MiO, simply provide flavor. Others, like Nuun’s U-Hydration provide electrolytes and antioxidants. Still others, like E-boost, focus on energy.

Thanks for Stopping By!

I hope you enjoyed the tour. I admit we’re ahead of the curve when it comes to sustainable hydration in the workplace, but thousands of companies around the U.S. are headed in this direction. Is your company one of them? I’d love to hear about the solutions you have in place.
