A broken KOR ONE makes a nifty watering can for your small garden.

I recently started a small garden after feeling a need to fill the top of the bare air conditioning unit that protruded outside the wall and realizing the potential of growing my own herbs (snipping chocolate mint, curled parsley and Thai basil and without spending gas and money? Awesome). Initially, I watered the plants with a spa foot bucket I had already been using for a palm tree. However, way too much water spilled into the pots with each tilt. That’s where the KOR ONE carafe came in — in reality, a bedside water carafe wasn’t really useful to me. After all, it isn’t fun to wake up before your morning alarm to make a necessary trip to the bathroom. Enter Life #3 for this broken KOR.

Hydration: Not Just for Humans

A KOR ONE really makes a perfect watering can. Here’s why:

  • The Perfect Spout™ allows water to cascade beautifully
  • Much more controlled than a foot bucket — I can maneuver water into small corners without drenching the pot
  • Its ergonomic body fits nicely into your hand as you hover the vessel over thirsty plants
  • The No-Worry Cap ensures that the lid doesn’t slap your hand

Note: This is best when there are mostly small plants to take care of as constantly refilling the hydration vessel can become tedious.

Greywater for Plants

To apply sustainable hydration to plants even further, we should consider recycling household water (or greywater). I was inspired by this list on collecting and re-using water for plants at Re-Nest. Using water that is still safe and beneficial for plants is a great way to save money and resources.

Part of KOR Water’s mission is giving back because clean water is so essential to the health of humans and the health of our planet. And that includes our green friends.
