Wetland protection is critical; Wetlands naturally reduce destructive flood damages, improve water quality by removing pollutants and toxic substances, recharge groundwater supplies and provide a home to a remarkable amount of plant and animal biodiversity. Consequently, 50% of our nations wetlands have either been drained or destroyed.
