New Stone Ideas Contest

KOR WANTS TO “TAP” INTO YOUR MOTIVATION
As you know a large part of what makes the KOR Hydration Vessel special are the KOR Stones, the little discs of motivation and inspiration under the cap. We began with five (5) original Stones which are included in every KOR ONE:  “Never Settle”, “Better Me Better World”, “Find Balance”, “Now is the Time”, and “Laugh Often”.

We’re now ready to expand the options for our community by offering four (4) new series of Stones, each of which will include four (4) individual Stones.  The concept is to select broad (or narrow) themes that will appeal and resonate with our KOR “water advocates”. For example, a series could revolve around celebrating water, yoga, or be as abstract as the concept of “optimism”. Since we are producing these Stones for our community we would like you, as trusted members of our community, to have input on their design.

THE FUN PART

So….what motivates you?  What keeps you charging hard or brings you back to earth? Please submit your ideas for a single Stone, a line of Stones, or as many series of Stones as you want. They can be text (5 words maximum), an image, or a combination of the two. For every one of your Stone ideas we use you will receive recognition on KOR’s website and a FREE KOR Hydration Vessel with your Stone in it. That means if we use a whole line of your Stones you will receive 4 Vessels!!

Please submit your ideas to Stones@korwater.com by 5pm on Monday, July 6th

Remember, no idea is a bad idea!

Our Orginal Stones

From our friends at Eastman who entered the KOR ONE Hydration Vessel in the International Design Competition at NPE2009: we won!

KOR ONE Wins Award

“The KOR One water bottle has been an early success story for Eastman. The hinged, dishwasher-friendly bottle was designed by Kor Ideas Inc. and RKS design Inc. and is molded by Nypro Inc. It retails for about $30 and holds around 22 ounces.

Tritan “has given designers many more degrees of freedom,” Dell said, adding that the Kor bottle “is like an accessory.””

Eastman with the Assist

It’s rare to find such a great business partner such as Eastman. From the beginning, when KOR sought to find a clear, durable BPA-free material, Eastman was ready and willing to do whatever we needed to make KOR Water a success way before it was a success. Not every company can have faith in an idea as far-fetched as creating the KOR ONE, but Eastman is no ordinary company. (Side note - we have to point out the clear KOR ONE with silver trim on Eastman’s website - it’s a design we scratched at the last second but worth another look?)

Did you hear that crescendo? That was the sound of bottled water sales reaching their highest growth point before heading south. 2008 marked the first year that the bottled water market registered flat to declining sales. Check out this trailer for the upcoming documentary, “Tapped“.

Trevor Pearson showed us the camera also loves KOR. We want to send a huge thank you to Trevor for the incredible images he captured of the new KOR ONE “Thirst for Giving” colors. The man knows his craft!

KOR Rocks!

jack-penate_diptych

We’ve been fans of Jack Penate’s music for a while, so we were thrilled when his label sent us some photos of him sporting KORs on a recent tour. Penate’s music runs the gamut from uptempo rockers to soulful ballads, but its always infectious and we love playing it in the office. You can learn more about Jack at his website. He’s also got a new album coming out on June 22 (you can download a free track here). We haven’t seen Jack play live yet, but we hear  really works up a sweat, so those KOR ONEs should come in  handy!

The Sustainable Hyration Network

Think back to 2004. We were hearing more and more about Wi-Fi and how someday, real soon, we’d all have access to internet everywhere….hotels, airports, the local coffee shop. It seemed ludicrous, but fast forward to 2009 and we’re almost there. While some establishments charge for wi-fi and others offer for free, the ubiquity of internet access is upon us.

Let’s now relate this to bottled water. In the home, we’ve had alternatives for clean water thanks to Brita, Pur, and all the “under-the-sink-filter” guys. However, when we’re out of the house, bottled water was necessary to ensure we had access to clean, filtered water at all times. The excuse for bottled water is coming to an end. Similar to “hot spot” internet access, we see a growing network of “water spots” where an individual can access free, filtered water almost anywhere. The “nodes” on the network are multiplying every day. It’s what water expert Peter Gleick calls a “local water” movement.  Take for example this organized network, TapItWater, growing rapidly in New York City.  In fact, the “Sustainable Hydration Grid” has been quitely in place for years, complete with 16,120 nodes worldwide, including 11,000 in the U.S. alone.   What is this Hydration Grid called?  Starbucks.
